Example: USD 1,500 ÷ USD 10,000 × 100 = 15%.

Overall utilization

15%

USD 1,500 used out of USD 10,000 in total limits.

USD 1,500 ÷ USD 10,000 × 100 = 15%

Total unused limit: USD 8,500.00

Per-card utilization

A ratio,
not a score

Credit utilization is the balance used compared with the credit limit. Divide the balance by the limit and multiply by 100. This credit utilization calculator shows that ratio for each card and for all the cards you include.

Utilization (%) = balance ÷ credit limit × 100
Overall utilization (%) = total balances ÷ total limits × 100

Add amounts before finding the overall percentage

Suppose one card has a USD 500 balance and a USD 2,000 limit: it uses 25%. Another has a USD 1,000 balance and a USD 8,000 limit: it uses 12.5%. Together, USD 1,500 divided by USD 10,000 gives 15%. Averaging 25% and 12.5% would give 18.75%, which is not the overall balance-to-limit ratio.

Use a consistent snapshot

Choose balances and limits from the same point in time and one currency. A current banking-app balance, statement balance, and balance reported to a credit bureau can differ. The result describes the inputs you choose; it cannot tell you which balances a particular scoring system will use.

Read each card.
Then read the total.

An overall percentage can look low while one card is near or above its limit. The per-card table keeps that difference visible. A balance greater than its limit produces a percentage above 100%; the calculator does not clamp it or hide the excess.

The unused-limit figure is simply total limits minus total balances. It does not guarantee that you can make a purchase: a card’s own limit, holds, fees, restrictions, or other account conditions may matter.

What this calculator does not model

It does not estimate score changes, approval odds, interest, minimum payments, or a debt-payoff plan. It is designed for revolving credit cards with a positive limit, not installment-loan balances. Cards with a zero limit are rejected by this model; removing a card from this tool is not an instruction to close an account.

The CFPB’s credit-score guidance discusses balances relative to credit limits. A credit score also uses other information, so a utilization percentage alone cannot establish the score or guarantee an outcome.

Each amount supports up to two decimal places and one billion in the chosen currency. Percentages round to four decimal places; extremely small positive ratios are labeled instead of shown as zero. Nothing is saved or uploaded.

A few things
to check first

Is overall utilization an average of my card percentages?

No. Add the balances, add the limits, and divide those totals. This gives larger credit lines the appropriate weight.

Can utilization be more than 100%?

Yes, if the entered balance is above the entered limit. The tool reports the ratio and shows the amount above the total limits where applicable.

Will paying a card change my credit score by a specific number?

This calculator cannot predict that. Scores depend on the model, reported information and other credit factors.

Do I need to enter my account number?

No. Use only balances and limits. No bank login or identifying account details are needed.

Keep the percentages clear.
