easier to share.

This AVIF to JPG converter creates JPEG files from still AVIF images. It is useful when a photo upload form, older editor, or recipient does not accept AVIF. Choose your images, wait for each preview, and click Download JPG. Your original files are not changed.

Choose JPEG quality

The quality slider starts at 90%. A lower setting usually creates a smaller download with more visible compression; a higher setting usually keeps more detail and takes more space. The result shows the actual file size, so you can compare it with your needs. Changing the setting converts your selected files again.

Set a background for transparency

JPG does not support transparent pixels. This tool fills transparent areas with white by default. Choose another background color before or after selecting your files if your image needs to match a slide, page, or design.

JPG and JPEG are the same format

The .jpg and .jpeg extensions both identify JPEG images. Downloads here use .jpg. The image width and height stay the same, so changing the format does not crop or resize your photo.

AVIF versus JPG file size

AVIF often produces smaller photographs than JPEG at a comparable visual quality. Converting to JPG helps compatibility, but it does not guarantee a smaller file. Check the displayed output size and adjust quality if you need to meet an upload limit.

Batch conversion without an account

Select up to ten still AVIF images. Each file can be up to 20 MB, and the selection can total 50 MB. Every successful conversion has a separate download button. A problem with one file does not remove other successful results.

Private files and practical limits

Your images are not uploaded to Plainly. Reloading or clearing the files removes your working selection. The converter supports images up to 25 megapixels, with neither side above 16,384 pixels, and up to 50 MB of converted downloads per selection.

JPEG adds lossy compression to the decoded image. The converter does not preserve animation or promise preservation of HDR, wide-gamut color, and embedded metadata. If you need transparency or want to avoid JPEG compression, use AVIF to PNG instead.

Good questions.
Straight answers.

How can I convert AVIF to JPG?

Choose an AVIF image or drop it into the tool. Conversion starts automatically. Set your preferred quality and background color, then click Download JPG.

Can I convert AVIF to JPEG instead?

Yes. JPG and JPEG are the same image format. This tool creates JPEG images with the .jpg extension.

What happens to a transparent AVIF background?

It becomes the background color you choose. White is the default because JPG cannot store transparency. Choose PNG if you need transparent pixels.

Does 100% quality make JPG lossless?

No. JPEG can still change image detail at the highest quality setting. Choose PNG if you want lossless compression of the decoded pixels.

Why will my AVIF file not open?

It may be damaged, exceed the limits, contain an image sequence, or use features your browser cannot decode. Try a current browser and a still image that opens correctly before conversion.

Is the AVIF to JPG conversion free?

Yes. Conversion and downloads are free, without a watermark or an account.
