Commission and base pay, clearly separated.
Gross earnings

One rate.
A visible calculation.
Multiply the amount eligible for commission by the rate divided by 100. Add fixed base pay from the same period to get a gross earnings total. This commission calculator keeps both parts visible so a larger total does not hide how much came from sales.
Commission = eligible sales × rate ÷ 100
Gross earnings = commission + base pay
For example, USD 25,000 of eligible sales at 4% earns USD 1,000 in commission. With USD 2,500 in base pay for that month, the gross total is USD 3,500.
Choose the right sales amount
Your commission agreement defines the eligible amount. It may use gross revenue, revenue after refunds and discounts, or gross profit. Entering revenue for a profit-based plan can overstate the answer. The tool applies the rate you supply and does not decide which sales your agreement covers.
Keep the time period consistent
Monthly sales need monthly base pay. Annual sales need annual base pay. The calculator does not annualize amounts or guess working hours. A currency selection labels the result; it does not exchange money.
Gross earnings
are not take-home pay
Taxes, benefits, deductions and payment timing can change what reaches your bank account. This is a flat-rate arithmetic estimate, not a payslip or tax calculation. The IRS describes commissions as compensation included in gross income; that reference does not determine your individual tax treatment.
What this simple model leaves out
Tiered rates, quota accelerators, minimums, caps, recovered draws, and refunds can change a commission plan. Calculate individual eligible bands separately if your agreement defines them that way. Do not apply the highest tier’s percentage to all sales unless that is how your plan works.
| Eligible sales | Rate | Commission |
|---|---|---|
| USD 10,000 | 10% | USD 1,000 |
| USD 25,000 | 4% | USD 1,000 |
| USD 80,000 | 2.5% | USD 2,000 |
Amounts accept up to two decimal places and one billion in the chosen currency. Rates accept 0–100% with up to four decimal places. Commission is rounded to the nearest cent, with a half-cent rounded up, before adding base pay. A payroll system may use different rounding or contractual rules.
Clear up
the small details
Can I calculate commission without a base salary?
Yes. Leave base pay empty or enter 0. The gross total then equals the commission amount.
Does the rate apply to revenue or profit?
The tool applies it to the amount you enter. Check your agreement and use the eligible revenue or profit amount it specifies.
Does this support tiered commissions?
No. It applies one flat percentage. A tiered plan needs its band rules considered separately.
Are the result and my sales amount stored?
No. Calculations run in your browser without a saved history. Reloading restores the example.
